Join us on Saturday 27 June on a circuit hike around East End Pond Conservation Area.

East End Pond Conservation Area is Anguilla’s only protected wetland. Although part of the pond was infilled in the 1980s, targeted rewilding efforts over the last 20 years by the ANT, the East End community, and other community-based organisations and corporate partners have significantly improved the pond’s habitat for birds, insects, and other wildlife. 

Saturday’s hike will take us along the perimeter of the pond, where we will have open views of the wetland and the mangrove stands. Although the pond is relatively dry, the shoreline will be muddy and shoes will get dirty. The hike is expected to take approximately 1 hour. Following the hike, we will tidy the area, collecting litter and other debris. Garbage bags and gloves will be provided to those taking part. The entire experience is expected to take approximately 1.5 hours. 

We will meet at the East End Pond Conservation Area parking lot, across from Morris Vanterpool Primary School at 6am for a prompt 6.15am start. Sneakers or hiking shoes that can get dirty are recommended. Water and a light snack will be provided. As the ANT is seeking to reduce waste that is generated from our activities, we kindly ask participants to bring a water bottle with them.
 
The activity is free of charge to all ANT members. The cost of the hike for non-members is US$5. Individuals are, however, welcome to become members. Individual annual membership is US$20 while family annual membership is US$50 and can be paid to the ANT. Youth annual membership fee is US$5. Interested persons should call the ANT office at 235 5297 to register.
